Bristol Bay Area Nonprofits Urged to Apply for Sustainable Community Funds
Alaska– Communities and non-profits throughout the Bristol Bay region are invited to apply for grants from The Pebble Fund during the Fund’s competitive grant cycle. Applications from eligible organizations must be submitted electronically and received by The Alaska Community Foundation no later than 9:00 pm February 28, 2011. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations in the Bristol Bay region, including schools, churches and government agencies. Funding will focus on programs related to renewable resources/fish, energy, community and economic development, as well as education.
To date, The Pebble Fund has awarded $2.4 million in grants, supporting over $12 million in community projects. The Pebble Fund, which will distribute another $2.35 million in the Bristol Bay region over the coming years, was created by The Pebble Partnership to fulfill a promise of $4.75 million over five years for charitable projects in Bristol Bay.
The Pebble Fund is administered by The Alaska Community Foundation. Since 1996, the Alaska Community Foundation has built successful partnerships with donors and nonprofits to improve the quality of life for Alaskans. ACF facilitates gifts from thousands of generous individuals and families, and last year these donors awarded grants of more than $6.4 million to a broad range of area nonprofit organizations.
