It's Official, Parnell and Treadwell Sign Final Certification Papers for Murkowski
December 30, 2010, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell and Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell today signed the final certification documents declaring Senator Lisa Murkowski the winner of the 2010 U.S. Senate race.
"The voters spoke, the courts confirmed, and we have certified Senator Murkowski's election to the U.S. Senate," Governor Parnell said. "We offer our congratulations to Senator Murkowski."
"We were able to certify this election in time for Senator Murkowski to be sworn in thanks to swift action by the courts and hard work by the Department of Law and the Division of Elections," Lieutenant Governor Treadwell said. "We commend all who worked to bring this election to conclusion."
Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai will hand-carry the documents to Washington, D.C. to be filed with the U.S. Senate Secretary's Office.
