2011 Iditarod Rookie Meeting Begins Saturday, December 4th!(WASILLA, ALASKA)- The 2011 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race rookie class of 2011 will begin their conference on Saturday, December 4, 2010, beginning at 8 a.m.
Saturday's meetings will be held at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel, the official hotel and Anchorage race headquarters of "The Last Great Race on Earth."
Presenters include veteran Iditarod mushers Aaron Burmeister, Dee Dee Jonrowe, and Jake Berkowitz. Iditarod Chief Veterinarian, Dr. Stu Nelson, will discuss protocols and the Iditarod veterinary workflow. Iditarod volunteer coordinators and staff will also discuss their roles in supporting rookies in preparation for, and during the race."
Sunday's meeting at Happy Trails Kennel, in Big Lake, begins at 10 a.m. at the home of 4-time Iditarod Champion Martin Buser. Martin will present the key elements of successful kennel management from A to Z.
All media is invited to meet the 2011 Iditarod rookie class between 12 noon and 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 4th, at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel (4800 Spenard Road, Anchorage).
