SBA Announces Appointment of Calvin Goings as Administrator for Region 10WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Dec. 10 the appointment of Calvin Goings, as the regional administrator in Region 10, to oversee the SBA's programs and services in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.
"Both the SBA and small businesses of the Pacific Northwest will benefit greatly from Calvin's career in public service and commitment to community development," said SBA Administrator Karen Mills in welcoming Goings. "With his background as a small business advocate and business leader, Calvin will be a tremendous asset for small businesses and entrepreneurs across the region, especially at this critical time when so many are facing tough challenges as a result of the recession."

The Region 10 office, headquartered in Seattle, oversees the SBA's district offices in Seattle and Spokane, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; Boise, Idaho; and Anchorage, Alaska.
Goings currently serves as the senior adviser to the president at the Washington Credit Union League where he is focused on supporting small businesses and emerging markets. Before his work in the private sector, Goings served in elected office for nearly two decades, serving as a Pierce County Fire Commissioner, Pierce County Council member, and as a Washington state Senator.
Goings is affiliated with several Washington organizations including the Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce, Tacoma Urban League, Pierce College Foundation, and Friends of the Pierce County Library. He received an associate's degree from Pierce College and a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Pacific Lutheran University. Goings and his wife Amy are the proud parents of William, age 5.
