Public Hearing for Omnibus Energy Bill and State Energy Policy Bill Scheduled for Friday

Energy Committee Also Launches New Website
(ANCHORAGE) - The House Special Committee on Energy will meet on Friday, December 11th at the Anchorage LIO for two important pieces of energy legislation. Drafts of the House Energy Omnibus Bill and the State Energy Policy Bill will be released and public testimony will be taken.
The House Energy Omnibus legislation brings together the best elements of several energy bills that were introduced last session and covers a broad range of energy issues from the creation of a state department of energy to energy audits for public buildings.
The State Energy Policy legislation was created by the House Energy Stakeholders Group, a diverse group of Alaskans with years of experience in energy issues who volunteered their time to help the legislature craft an overall energy policy for the state.
Energy Co-chairs Rep. Bryce Edgmon, D-Dillingham, and Rep. Charisse Millett, R-Anchorage, are inviting all Alaskans to testify to the committee about the two bills. Both will be filed for the 2010 legislative session. Copies of both bills are attached to this news release.
