Municipality Updates December H1N1

Vaccination Clinic Schedule, Clinics Open to General Public The Municipality of Anchorage will hold weeknight H1N1 Clinics in December; priority group restriction is lifted. The Municipality of Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services has revised its December H1N1 vaccine clinic schedule. Due to anticipated vaccine availability, DHHS has reduced the number of scheduled clinics this month. Following the State of Alaska guidelines removing the H1N1 priority group restriction effective today, the upcoming H1N1 clinics will be open to the general public.

Public clinics confirmed at this time:

Tuesday, December 8, 5-9pm Clark Middle School

Wednesday, December 16, 1-7pm Northway Mall (new date)

Tuesday, December 22, 2-8pm Gruening Middle School

Tuesday. December 29, 2-8pm Romig Middle School

Previously planned clinics that will not occur:

Thursday, December 3, 1-7pm Northway Mall (moved to Dec. 16)

Saturday, December 5, 10am-4pm UAA Cuddy Center

Saturday, December 12, 10am-4pm UAA Cuddy Center

Tuesday, December 15, 5-9pm Wendler Middle School

Saturday, December 19, 10am-4pm UAA Cuddy Center

In addition to holding these public clinics, the Municipality will continue to allocate incoming vaccine to the Anchorage School District, and local healthcare providers and pharmacies.

"Though vaccine supply is still somewhat limited, we are confident that we will have sufficient vaccine to hold these clinics in the month of December," said Jayson Smart, Deputy Director of the Municipality's Health and Human Services Department. "We are currently seeing slightly larger federal vaccine allocations in Alaska, so hopefully that is a trend that continues."

"Our goal is to get vaccine to every Anchorage resident who wants it," Smart continued. "The fact that H1N1 vaccine is no longer restricted to only priority groups will certainly help us achieve that goal."

DHHS anticipates adding additional clinic dates. Scheduling will occur once the Municipality has a clear indication of vaccine supply in the coming weeks. The Municipality has had to cancel several H1N1 vaccination clinics scheduled in November and December due to the limited availability of H1N1 vaccine.

Vaccine is currently being administered to students in the Anchorage School District, as well as through several private healthcare providers and pharmacies in Anchorage.
