Keller Remarks on National Healthcare Reform
(Wasilla) - House Health and Social Services Committee Co-Chair Wes
Keller, R-Wasilla, released the following statement today regarding
the passage of healthcare reform by the United States Senate:
"It is a sad day for every Alaskan, regardless of income or medical
insurance coverage. Passage by the U.S. Senate of the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590), will change the way
health care is provided to everyone. Everyone will bear the costs and
see their health coverage decrease.
"The bill passed the Senate today, and now heads to conference
committee. The measure is a 'one-size-fits-all' bill that does not
account for the special needs of individual states, except those with
powerful United States Senators. Alaskans will not be considered as
part of a special needs state, but will be responsible to cover the
costs associated with the legislation.
