Governor Parnell Orders State Flags Lowered For Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
December 4, 2009, Anchorage Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Monday in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day and to honor the Americans who fought in World War II.
"The brave men and women of our Armed Forces during World War II are remembered for their courage, selfless dedication, and sacrifice," Governor Parnell said. "We honor their service by doing our best to ensure the continued blessings of liberty and freedom for our children and our grandchildren. I ask that all Alaskans pause and remember our veterans across the state for their bravery and heroism."
On December 7, all U.S. flags at federal, state and public facilities in the United States will be flown at half-staff, in commemoration of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Flags will be returned to full-staff Tuesday, December 8.
