DOT&PF Commissioner Chooses Lance Wilber for Central Region Top Slot
(JUNEAU, Alaska) - Commissioner Leo von Scheben announced he has selected Lance Wilber as the regional director to lead the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities' Central Region beginning Jan. 1, 2010.
The regional director is responsible for the overall management of the Central Region including oversight of the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations for the state-owned highways, airports and public facilities in Southcentral and Southwestern Alaska.
"Lance has served the Anchorage area well in his most recent position as the Traffic Department Director for the Municipality of Anchorage since 2001 and was the chair for the Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions' Technical Advisory Committee," said Commissioner von Scheben. "Additionally, Lance has experience with transportation issues in rural Alaska and has participated on task forces and review teams for the Federal Highway Administration and the American Public Works Administration. He is on the governing board of the Alaska University Transportation Center and the Alaska chapter of the Intelligent Transportation System."
Wilber will serve as a liaison for local communities and individuals regarding input on various transportation issues.
In addition to his industry-related experience, Lance has been a member of the Anchorage East Rotary since 2001.
