American Fast Freight – New Terminal Nears Completion
(Fife, WA: 12-03-09) The new terminal which will house the Northwest operations, sales, marketing, and customer service as well as accounting and administrative functions for American Fast Freight (AFF) is nearing completion. The eco friendly terminal is on 21 acres of land in Fife, WA which is about ten minutes outside the Port of Tacoma. In addition to American Fast Freight, the other AFF divisions; Hawaiian Ocean Transport, American Relocation Services and AFF Logistics will also be located there. The building will feature state-of-the art electrical systems which will dramatically reduce energy consumption as will the installation of energy efficient HVAC systems. It will have a white roof which dramatically reduces the “heat island” effect. The refrigerated sections will have dock shelters with strip doors to reduce cooler temperature loss. Operations will be conducted using only electric forklifts. Over 95% of the steel used in the construction is recycled as are the majority of the flooring materials. The new terminal will open its receiving doors on January 15, 2010.
