Every year the AFN Convention serves as a forum for the statewide Native community. AFN Delegates gather to share information, hear reports from political leaders and experts, debate the pressing issues of our time, and set AFN’s course for the coming year.
AFN would like to remind you to mark your calendars to join us October 23 - 25 for the 2014 Annual AFN Convention in Anchorage. This year’s theme is “Rise As One.” We have many exciting workshops and presentations planned.
You can help us make this year’s Convention the biggest and most exciting convention to-date by becoming a 2014 AFN Sponsor. Learn more about our sponsorship opportunities and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us by phone at 907-274-3611 or by email.
The Alaska Federation of Natives was formed in October 1966, when more than 400 Alaska Natives representing 17 Native organizations gathered for a three-day conference to address Alaska Native aboriginal land rights. It is now the largest statewide Native organization in Alaska. Its membership includes 151 federally-recognized tribes, 134 village corporations, 12 regional corporations, and 12 regional nonprofit and tribal consortium's that contract and compact to run federal and state programs. AFN is governed by a 37-member Board, which is elected by its membership at the annual convention held each October. The mission of AFN is to enhance and promote the cultural, economic and political voice of the entire Alaska Native community. Learn more at www.nativefederation.org.
