REAP to Host 10th Annual Alaska Renewable Energy Fair
Workshops and Demonstrations Highlight Benefits of Clean Energy
What: The Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) will host the 10th annual Alaska Renewable Energy Fair on Saturday, August 9th on the downtown Anchorage park strip between G & I Streets. This event will feature 12 clean energy workshops, renewable energy demonstrations, Do-It-Yourself presentations, informational booths, a “text-to-win” energy scavenger hunt, and numerous children’s activities. Workshops will cover a wide array of energy topics including DIY energy efficiency retrofits, Fire Island Wind, residential and commercial solar, and more.
This free event will also include live music, local food and craft vendors, and a beer garden featuring Alaskan microbrews.
Who: Energy experts from across Alaska will offer 12 in-depth presentations on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable communities, including:
- Wayne Dyok, Alaska Energy Authority; Becky Long, Susitna River Coalition – “Susitna Watana Hydro: The Pro’s & Con’s”
- Doug Johnson, Ocean Renewable Power Company – “Cook Inlet Tidal Power”
- Matt Oster, Red Edge Design – “This Old Igloo – House Talk with the House Doc”
- Patrick Rumley, Rumley Investment Services – “Sustainable 401k Investing”
