Governor Appoints Cynthia Franklin to Head ABC Board
August 22, 2014, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell today appointed Cynthia Franklin as Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board director, effective September 22.
“Cynthia's professional expertise, coupled with her ability to work effectively with a wide array of agencies and members of the public, makes her the ideal candidate to lead the ABC Board,” Governor Sean Parnell said. "I extend my thanks to Chief Enforcement Officer Bob Beasley for serving as acting director. His tenure with the ABC Board and leadership skills have been invaluable.”
Franklin has served as the prosecutor for the Municipality of Anchorage. Prior to her promotion to municipal prosecutor, Franklin served as a domestic violence prosecutor. Recently, she has been part of the ABC Board stakeholder group. The group of approximately 60 volunteers, including members of industry and public safety, has spent more than a year reviewing and recommending updates to the statutes and policies that govern the ABC Board.
Franklin graduated from Baylor University School of Law and has practiced law in the public and private sector.
