GCI reveals exclusive technology sponsorship, expands partnership with University of Alaska Anchorage
Announcement made at GCI Tech Quest, where local residents won prizes from a brand new Volkswagen Beetle to 10 Alaska Airlines round trip tickets
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Today GCI revealed that it will be the official technology partner at the new Alaska Airlines Center, expanding the company’s support for the University of Alaska Anchorage and its athletics department. The sponsorship provides the infrastructure to ensure that technology, including cellular and wireless accessibility, in the new state-of-the-art facility is seamless.

The new sponsorship was announced at today’s GCI Tech Quest Scavenger Hunt, which brought the community to the University of Alaska Anchorage campus and offered event participants the opportunity to win a wide variety of prizes. The grand prize, a red 2014 Volkswagen Beetle provided by Kendall Volkswagen of Anchorage, was awarded to one lucky participant, and Alaska Airlines also excited the crowd by giving away 10 roundtrip tickets to anywhere the airline flies.
“It was exciting to announce today’s winners, and it was easy to see that they were all overjoyed to have a won a trip for two to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies,” said Alaska Airlines Director of Sales and Community Marketing Alaska Scott Habberstad. “In addition to being a proud partner of the Tech Quest event, we enjoyed coming out and spending time with members of our community in the spectacular new Alaska Airlines Center.”

In honor of the technology partnership announcement, GCI presented winners with technology prizes, including five Apple iPhone 5s 16GB, five Samsung Galaxy S5 16GB and nine Apple iPad Air 16GB, as well as 10 vouchers for three free months of re:D broadband, the fastest Internet available in the state.
To ensure that everyone attending was truly a winner, GCI gifted each participant with a free Video on Demand coupon, headphones and a GCI Great Alaska Shootout basketball.
