Weekly Coal Production Report: August 08, 2013

The Weekly Coal Production Report has been updated for the week ended August 03, 2013 and month ended July 2013.   

For the week ended August 03:

•    U.S. coal production totaled approximately 20.0 million short tons (mmst)

•    This production estimate is 4.0 percent lower than last week's estimate and 0.4 percent lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2012

•    Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.0 mmst

•    Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 12.0 mmst

•    U.S. year-to-date coal production totaled 583.6 mmst, 3.4 percent lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2012

For the month ended July 2013:

•    U.S. coal production totaled approximately 88.9 mmst

•    This production estimate is 3.0 percent higher than the production estimate in the same month in 2012

•    Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 34.9 mmst

•    Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 54.0 mmst
