Reminder: REAP to Host 9th Annual Alaska Renewable Energy Fair
Workshops and Demonstrations Highlight Benefits of Clean Energy
What: The Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) will host the 9th annual Alaska Renewable Energy Fair on Saturday, August 10th on the downtown Anchorage parkstrip between G & I Streets. This event will feature 20 clean energy workshops, renewable energy demonstrations, Do It Yourself (DIY) presentations, informational booths, a “text-to-win” energy scavenger hunt, and numerous children’s activities. Workshops will cover a wide array of energy topics including DIY energy efficiency retrofits, the Alaska SeaLife Center heat pumps and Cook Inlet tidal power.
The Fair will also include live music, local food and craft vendors, and an Alaskan microbrew beer garden.
Who: Experts from across the state will offer 20 in-depth presentations on renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Alaska, including:
- Darryl Shaefermeyer, Alaska SeaLife Center – “Alaska SeaLife Center Heat Pumps”
- Doug Johnson, Ocean Renewable Power Company – “Cook Inlet Tidal Power”
- Emily Ford, Alaska Energy Authority – “Susitna-Watana Hydro Project Update”
- Matt Oster, Red Edge Design – “Easy Energy Efficiency Home Improvements”
