Governor Makes Appointments to Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, Alaska Energy Authority
August 15, 2013, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell appointed Russell Dick, Crystal Nygard, and Dana Pruhs to the board of directors for the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) and Alaska Energy Authority (AEA). The governor’s appointments will serve on both boards.
The mission of AIDEA is to provide various means of financing to promote economic growth and diversity by acting as a funding resource in partnership with other financial institutions, economic development groups and guarantee agencies. The purpose of AEA is to promote, develop, and advance the general prosperity and economic welfare of the people of the state by providing a means of financing and operating power projects and facilities that recover and use waste energy.
Dick, of Juneau, is the president and CEO of Haa Aaní LLC, a subsidiary of Sealaska established to expand the regional economy by fostering new and sustainable industries, specifically in rural communities. He also serves as Huna Totem Corporation's board chair. Dick earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Phoenix, a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University, and a master's degree in management from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is appointed to represent the private sector.
Nygard, of Wasilla, is the co-founder and CEO of the Mat-Su Business Alliance, and owner of Managing Recruiters of Palmer. She previously owned Tutka LLC., a full service environmental consulting firm specializing in Alaska logistics for the oil and gas industry, manufacturing, and exploration companies. Nygard is the recipient of Alaska’s Top 40 under 40 Award and the Small Business Administration’s Small Minority Business of the Year Award. She is a professional business graduate of the AJI Network and earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Western Washington University. Nygard is appointed to represent the private sector.
Pruhs, of Anchorage, is a lifelong Alaskan and the owner of Pruhs Construction, Quality Sand and Gravel, Meridian Investments, and Harr Technologies. Having been previously involved in a number of public service roles including the Alaska Board of Game, Pruhs currently serves on the Alaska Royalty Oil and Gas Development Advisory Board, the Municipality of Anchorage Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Associated General Contractors of Alaska Board of Directors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and transportation engineering from California Polytechnic State University and is appointed to represent the private sector.
