Fire prevention message for hunters and backcountry travelers August 14, 2013
Attention hunters and backcountry adventurers:
Please use extra caution with anything that could lead to a wildfire, such as an escaped campfire or motorized equipment. You are responsible for fires you start. Make sure campfires are completely out before you leave them. Ensure spark arrestors are working properly. Conditions are extremely warm and dry in the central and eastern interior and firefighting personnel and aircraft are limited. Any new fire starts detract from the firefighting agencies’ ability for resources to respond to existing fires, non-preventable lightning-caused fires, or other emergency situations.
