Bean’s Café to Celebrate International Bacon Day—Saturday, August 31
Anchorage, Alaska - August 19, 2013—Bean’s Cafe, a local non-profit feeding and sheltering those in need since 1979, is celebrating International Bacon Day by holding a bacon drive. Supporters are encouraged to drop off a donation of bacon between Monday, August 26 and Saturday, August 31 at Bean’s Café, 1101 E. 3rd Avenue. Drop off hours are between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donations in lieu of bacon are also being accepted either online at www.beanscafe.org or by mail to P.O. Box 100940, Anchorage, AK 99510.
According to Lisa Sauder, executive director, Bean’s Café, “Bacon is a truly a luxury item for our clients. By celebrating International Bacon Day we want to raise awareness of the ongoing hunger issues in our community. This bacon drive is a fun way for the community to show their support for Bean’s Café and provide a little something extra for the people we serve.”

Bean’s Café, a part of the Anchorage community since February 1979, maintains a center where the hungry and homeless are provided with hot nutritious meals, a warm and safe day shelter, as well as information and referral assistance to health and human service programs. Bean’s Café is open 365 days of the year, ensuring these services are always available to those who need it the most.
