Anchorage Symphony Orchestra Holds Auditions

Auditions for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th. The ASO has permanent openings for the following positions: Principal Harp, Principal Bassoon, Horn IV, Assistant Principal Violin 2, Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola and Bass. Musicians interested in substitute positions for any orchestral instrument are also welcome to audition. The ASO is particularly interested in adding more saxophonists to its sub roster.

Those auditioning should be ready to perform musical excerpts provided by the ASO office and an allegro movement from a concerto of their choice. Some sight-reading may also be required. Auditions will be heard by ASO Music Director/Conductor Randall Craig Fleischer and the Audition Committee.

All auditions are by appointment only on the evenings of September 3rd and 4th.  To schedule an audition, call the ASO office at 274-8668.

Approximately 80 orchestra musicians are required for each of the five Classic Concerts scheduled this season. In addition, the ASO will perform three special concerts (performance with Eileen Ivers, silent film double feature (Modern Times & Kid Auto Races at Venice) and Steve Lippia in Simply Sinatra), the Anchorage Concert Association’s production of The Nutcracker, two Young People’s Concerts, and a Neighborhood Concert.

If you have any further questions, please call the ASO office at 274-8668.
