Rockford Corporation Awarded Crowley Maritime Tank Project
Crowley Maritime Corporation recently awarded Rockford Corporation of Anchorage a $3 million project at the Port of Anchorage upgrading their tank farm. The project involves constructing fuel tank bottoms and containment liners at Crowley’s facilities. Construction on this project began in June and is expected to be completed in November.
“After a 4-year hiatus we are glad to again be working at the Port of Anchorage,” said Rockford GM Steve Schoeni. The project is very dynamic and challenging, he explains. Rockford must perform the work in an active tank farm, meet the evolving needs of our client, and complete the project on time in spite of this summer’s rain. The project provides excellent employment opportunities for Upeagavik Inupiat Corporation’s (UIC) shareholders, and allows them to be a part of building the infrastructure that will provide for Alaska’s future energy needs.
Rockford Corporation is one of four companies under the UIC Construction Services LLC (UICCS) umbrella. It specializes in industrial mechanical work. In its 44-year history Rockford predominately performs work for the federal government on fuel, tank and utility projects. Current project locations vary from the North Slope of Alaska to Wake Island in the Pacific Ocean and across the Lower 48. UICCS is a subsidiary of UIC of Barrow.
