Rep. Young Visits 168th Refueling Wing at Eielson AFB
FAIRBANKS, AK – Alaskan Congressman Don Young during a visit yesterday with the 168th Refueling Wing at Eielson Air Force Base, met with Major General Thomas Katkus, Adjunct General of Alaska and Colonel Timothy O'Brien, Wing Commander of the 168th Air Refueling Wing. The focus of the meeting was to discuss Eielson Air Force Base’s future as well as the future of the Refueling Wing and how Rep. Young can help the commanders on the ground.
"I had a great visit with General Katkus and Colonel O’Brien of the 168th Refueling Wing," said Rep. Young. "As I reiterated to them yesterday, they have my full support and I will continue to do everything I can to ensure Eielson isn’t faced with some sort of ‘backdoor BRAC’ process. Whether it’s holding the Pentagon’s feet to the fire and making sure we’re getting the full truth from them or finally developing a long-term energy plan for the interior – Eielson is far too important to the defense of this nation for it to be crippled.”
