Olympic-Themed Carnival at Cuddy Park Today hosted by YEP teens
Youth Employment in Parks Teens Host Free Community Celebration
Come to Youth Employment in Park’s annual summer celebration today, a free family friendly event for all ages. This year it’s an Olympic Carnival loaded with tons of fun, and designed for the whole family! The park will be bursting with fun, including a rock climbing wall, carnival games, bouncy boxing, kayaking with REI, food vendors, and tons of other fun games and activities for all ages.
The teens in the YEP program (16-18 years old) have been doing amazing work in our community this summer. >From rehabilitating ball fields in Mountain View's Davis Park; to building an eco-friendly boardwalk at Sand Lake; to cleaning up our city's newest asset the Campbell Creek Estuary, YEP teens are making a difference. Representing 10 different high schools and speaking 11 different languages, YEP reflects Anchorage’s diversity. The Summer Carnival offers free recreation for kids and a chance for families to get outdoors and play.
YEP is a program of the Anchorage Park Foundation and the Anchorage Parks & Recreation Department, and has hired over 200 youth since its inception. The goal of the YEP program is to positively engage a new generation of diverse youth leaders with conservation and the Anchorage community through meaningful training, employment, and outdoor recreation.
