Members sought for Kachemak Bay State Park Advisory Board
(Homer, AK) - Members of the public interested in serving on the Kachemak Bay State Park Citizen’s Advisory Board are encouraged to apply for seats on this dynamic citizen’s board that provides advice to the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation. Two seats on the board are vacant now, and three additional seats will come up for reappointment in January.
The board advises the Division of Parks and Outdoor Education on issues related to Kachemak Bay State Park, Kachemak Bay State Wilderness Park, Eveline State Recreation Site, Diamond Creek State Recreation Site, and several small Exxon Valdez Trustee Council acquisitions, as well as outdoor recreation issues affecting state lands. Board members serve a three-year term.
The board meets the second Wednesday of each month between September and April. Issues the board may be considering in the next year include: recommendations to the Division of Parks for new regulations, new land acquisition, and facility development.
