INTO THE WOODS PROMISES TO THRILL AUDIENCES IN SEPTEMBER
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – August 23, 2012 – Hot off the heels of its successful, sold-out run of RENT, Theatre Artists United (TAU) is back with one of musical theatre’s most challenging and exciting productions – Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. This three-time Tony® Award winning musical will be presented Sept. 21-23 and Sept. 27-30, 2012, at the Sydney Laurence Theatre. Tickets available at www.centertix.net
Characters from beloved childhood stories like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Red Riding Hood and several others head into the unknown of the woods to pursue their wishes. All wishes come with a price, and this fractured fairytale takes the audience on a fun-filled and emotional journey through the human experience.
“There’s a character for everyone in this work,” said Shelly Wozniak, Into the Woods stage director. “It is an incredibly challenging work to bring to life, but we have one of the best casts ever assembled in Anchorage, and I think audiences will love following them down their respective paths.”
Cast members include local theatrical favorites, Leo Grinberg (Baker), Danielle Rabinovitch (Baker’s Wife), Regina Catherine MacDonald (Witch) and features new talent to TAU like Alex Pierce and Christopher Hall as the productions charming and hilarious princes, and Eden Barrington as the indecisive Cinderella.
In addition to Wozniak, the production team assembles some Anchorage theatre scenes heavy-hitters including: Steven Wounded Deer Alvarez (music director), Kristen Viertalher (choreographer), Michael Cross (lighting design) and Taylor Carlson (sound design).
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for youth 18 and younger through www.centertix.net or by calling (907) 263-2787. Although based on several fairy tales, the production is recommended for youth ages 8 and older. Theatre Artists United can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/
