Arctic Innovation Competition 2012
Take some time over the long holiday weekend to think about your submissions!
FEDC has been a founding sponsor of the Arctic Innovation Competition since Dr. Ping Lan approached us with this exciting idea in 2008! Dr. Lan's idea was to create the Arctic Innovation Competition (AIC) as a way to facilitate the sharing of ideas and engage communities around the world in innovation and research.
This event is open to anyone with an idea, to all innovations, from anywhere, at any level of development. There is no charge to enter the competition and you can submit as many ideas as you like. Applications are due on September 16th. Register as an individual or a team. New to this year's competition is an AIC Jr. division to showcase ideas of innovators ages 17 and younger. Examples of previous ideas include a text message system for public transportation, an energy-saving exhaust vent cover, and a temporary tattoo to help prevent sunburns.
A finals competition will be held in Fairbanks on October 19, 2012. Contestants making it to the top 20 will vie for $19,600 in cash prizes, including $10,000 for first place.
