Statement from the Denali Commission on the Passing of Senator Ted Stevens
Joel Neimeyer, Federal Co-Chair at the Denali Commission, issued the following statement to the family and friends of the survivors and the deceased of the tragic plane crash near Dillingham.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the 5 who passed in the tragic plane crash north of Dillingham yesterday. To the survivors, we wish a speedy recovery.
It has been said on many occasions that one of Senator Stevens’ legacies is the Denali Commission and the agency’s 12 years of service to rural Alaska. Many have been touched by the Senator’s efforts for our country and Alaska; his legacy will live on in the many programs he created in his decades of dedicated public service.
On behalf of the Commissioners, the staff, and our program partners, it is our goal to continue his legacy in a manner that would make him and his family proud. This is indeed a sad day for Alaska.Joel Neimeyer
