Parnell Suspends Public Campaign Activity

Anchorage, AK – Sean Parnell today announced that he was temporarily suspending public campaign activity so all Alaskans have the opportunity to honor the memory of U.S. Senator Ted Stevens. In addition to cancelling a variety of events, the campaign is working to make sure that no campaign advertisements appear on television during this difficult time for Alaskans.

With regard to his campaign and the death of Senator Stevens, Governor Parnell released the following statement:

“Alaska has suffered a tremendous tragedy. We feel deep sorrow for all of those who passed away in the plane crash, as well as for their families and loved ones. We continue to pray for the survivors, their loved ones and friends.

“The death of Senator Ted Stevens is especially shocking to the Alaska family. Senator Stevens was truly the ‘Alaskan of the Century.’ His imprint on Alaska is found in every corner of our state, and we will greatly miss him.”
