Merlin Strivelli is coming to Hope Studios!


Anchorage, AK, August 23-27- Hope Studios is holding an open
house to introduce Merlin Strivelli, a nationally acclaimed artist, who
is visiting from North Carolina. Hope Studios will be holding a week
full of workshops in addition to the open house with an opportunity
to meet the artist and see his work.

Hope Studios is an inclusive art program, focusing on collaborative
art pieces created by artists with and without disabilities. As a part of
the Artist in Residence Program, Strivelli is making his way to Hope
Community Resources to spread the vision of possibilities for artists
of all abilities.

Strivelli has been drawing his whole life. In November 2007, he traveled to Washington D.C. to
accept an "Award of Excellence" in VSA Art's Driven exhibit at The Smithsonian Institution's S.
Dillon Ripley Center. He was one of 15 national finalists in the competition, for his piece
"Comics and Stories, Part 1" mixed media (20"x48"), which hung in the Smithsonian for 2 years.
