GeoNorth Launches Latest iPhone App

Anchorage, Alaska -  GeoNorth, LLC, an Information Technology solutions provider headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, continues to penetrate additional, complimentary IT market segments, and has just launched its newest iPhone application.  The Anchorage Concert Association (ACA) iPhone app is available to download now through the iTunes Store at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/anchorage-concert-association/id385669436?mt=8.

GeoNorth was able to successfully develop the project in two pieces.  The first piece is the actual iPhone application itself, with ACA’s focus geared towards promoting single ticket sales.  In addition to proceeding on to ACA’s website and browsing events, the app also allows the viewer an opportunity to participate in an arts persona quiz, and obtain feedback on upcoming events which may be of interest to them based on the results.  The second is an administrative website which allows the client the ability to update the content within the app themselves.  This website is a Drupal Content Management System (CMS), a content management tool often recommended by GeoNorth as a preferred CMS.  Integrating their iPhone app with the administrative website makes the iPhone app content dynamic. As content is derived from the client website, content updates are automatically applied to their iPhone application.  What this does for the client is avoid the need to come back to a supporting vendor, eliminating the burden of additional development costs.

“When developing an iPhone app, if it does not meet Apple’s strict development standards in its entirety, it gets rejected by Apple, and cannot be published”, says Bob Johnson, Sales and Marketing Manager.  “GeoNorth’s latest iPhone app development made it through Apple’s approval process the first time with no rejections, speaking directly to our capabilities, and the fact that we researched the entire process thoroughly.  This took an investment on GeoNorth’s part, as development costs far exceeded client costs for this particular application. In the spirit of total customer satisfaction, this was an investment we were willing to make.  And we see future applications as well.  Being known as a specialist in GIS development (Geographic Information Systems), we certainly see applications for clients with location awareness, mapping, routing, and other geographic-centric needs”.

Kirmanie Ravariere, one of GeoNorth’s talented Programmer/Analysts, was the lead developer on the project, ultimately managed by Andy Clary, Sr. Programmer/Analyst.  Additional contributions came from Trevor Evans, who was responsible for constructing the administrative website, and Nick Hand, responsible for all graphical elements.

The Anchorage Concert Association, a non-profit corporation, was founded in 1950 by a group of classical music enthusiasts committed to bringing the finest classical performing artists to perform for the people of Anchorage.  Today, their purpose includes presenting internationally acclaimed artists from the entire spectrum of the performing arts in Alaska.  Their public performances and education and outreach activities entertain, uplift, educate, and inspire audiences, students, and local artists.
