Eagle River Local Named New Manger of Branch Library
Anchorage Public Library Director Karen Keller announces the selection of Zane Treesh as the new manager of the Chugiak-Eagle River Branch Library. Treesh takes over the reins of the branch on Aug. 17, 12 years to the day since beginning his career as an APL librarian.
"Chugiak-Eagle River is the largest and busiest branch in the system," Treesh said. "The staff has been doing a Herculean job serving the people of their community. Balancing public needs with staff needs is going to be one of my biggest challenges."
An Eagle River resident since he was 1, Treesh graduated from Chugiak High School, received a history degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and his Master's in Library Science from Florida State.
After becoming a Municipal employee in 1998, Treesh worked as a part-time librarian, first at Eagle River and then at the Mountain View Branch in the old Clark Middle School location. In 2006, Treesh moved to Loussac Public Library where he worked as a reference librarian in Adult Services. He also was the APL science and tech librarian, supervised associate librarians at Loussac and, for a time, oversaw the circulation department.
Treesh has been married for eight years to wife Robin. The couple, who lives in Eagle River, has a 2 ½-year-old daughter, Rebecca.
