Alaska Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs
Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:
U.S. Department of Agriculture:
$223,816 grant to the Zender Environmental Health and Research Group of Anchorage. Funds will be used to update and deliver three Integrated Solid Waste Management and Training Courses.
$1,256,000 Community Facility Direct Loan to Sitka Counseling and Prevention Services. Funds from this loan will be used to purchase the existing buildings and land that Sitka Counseling and Prevention Services are currently leasing.
U.S. Department of Commerce:
National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration:
$290,000 to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Funds will be used to provide operational maintenance on the 'Crestnet' seismic network at the Alaska Earthquake Information Center (AEIC).
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development:
$77,942 Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) to the Chilkat Indian Village. These funds can be used for a variety of eligible affordable housing activities. These activities may include operating assistance, development of affordable housing that may include new construction, acquisition, modernization, or rehabilitation of rental or owner-occupied housing; housing services, housing management for low-income housing; crime prevention safety or model activities as described in the recipient's Indian Housing Plan:
U.S. Department of Transportation:
Federal Transit Administration:
- $7,500,000 to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Funds will be used for the on-going system wide vessel refurbishment activities for the Alaska Marine Highway System.
