Murkowski Comments on the Passing of Senator Edward Kennedy

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, issued the following statement following the passing of Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy:

"I am saddened at the passing of my colleague, Edward Kennedy. A dedicated public servant who often led some of the most spirited debate in the history of the Senate, Sen. Kennedy was one of the great lions of the Senate and he had significant influence on the laws enacted during his lifetime.

"Since arriving in the Senate, I have been impressed with Sen. Kennedy's ability and willingness to work with all his colleagues and not just those who shared his party affiliation. I will miss Sen. Kennedy's leadership in the Senate in many ways -- but especially will feel his absence as we continue to work to reform our health care system.

"I extend my deepest sympathies to Sen. Kennedy's wife and family during this difficult time."
