August 18, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor and memory of former state legislator Tim Kelly. Senator Kelly passed away Monday. He was 65.

“I had the honor and pleasure of serving in the legislature with Tim Kelly,” Governor Parnell said. “He was a dedicated public servant with a strategic mind and a heart for the people he served. Sandy and I send our thoughts and prayers to Lisa and the children during this painful time.”

Kelly was first elected to the House in 1976 and moved to the Senate in 1978, where he served for 22 years. He was Senate president from 1989-90.
