Engineering School Earned Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) program, a part of the University of Alaska Anchorage’s School of Engineering, recently earned accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET).  The School’s Civil Engineering and Geomatics programs also earned continuing accreditation.
The BSE program was established in 2005 and is comprised of three separate programs: Computer Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.  Every program conducted an internal evaluation and self-study to document that the students, curriculum, faculty, administration, facilities and institutional support met ABET’s established criteria.

ABET also approved retroactive accreditation of the BSE program dating back to 2007.  This means that all BSE graduates are considered graduates of an accredited program, which plays an important role in becoming a licensed professional engineer.
