U.S. Small Business Administration Alaska District Office Names Marsh Creek LLC Region 10 Prime Contractor of the Year for 2014
Anchorage Alaska: Marsh Creek LLC has been selected as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2014 Region 10 Prime Contractor of the Year. The Anchorage based business was nominated by Christopher Tew from the Alaska District of the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. Being selected as Region 10’s Prime Contractor of the Year, places Marsh Creek in consideration for the prestigious SBA National Prime Contractor of the Year Award to be announced during National Small Business Week.
Marsh Creek is jointly owned by Kaktovik Inupiat Corporation and Solsten SP Inc. The company was started in 2004 and now employs over 160 full-time personnel and 40-80 additional project-specific hires to address seasonal workloads. Marsh Creek’s in-house workforce includes a wide range of craft laborers, specialized technicians, construction personnel, scientific and engineering professionals.
Marsh Creek was nominated for their exemplary work, under a contract for the removal of 2,440 tons of contaminated soil, from a remote location in the foothills of the Brooks Range, in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPRA), more than 100 miles from the nearest road system. Their ability to deliver an onsite ELAP-Certified laboratory saved the USACE over $100,000 dollars in rush laboratory fees and air charters, and eliminated potential site work
s delays of $60,000 per day.
Marsh Creek will be honored by the SBA at the National Small Business Week ceremonies in Washington D.C. May 15-16, 2014. Marsh Creek will also be recognized at the Alaska District’s Small Business Week award luncheon on April 30th at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage.
