Online Bridal Forum to Launch in Alaska
Engaged Alaska invites brides to connect, share inspiration
Engaged Alaska, the area’s first online wedding planning forum, will launch this month for local brides to share wedding inspiration, recommend vendors and research everything they’ll need for their special day. With up to 70 percent of brides doing at least a portion of their wedding planning online, Engaged Alaska fills a unique niche in the local wedding industry.
The site is free for brides to use, and once a profile is created, users can interact with other area brides, share photos, post questions and connect with local wedding service providers. Vendors will also have the opportunity to advertise directly to brides looking for their services or products and can share information about their companies in the vendor profile section. The site’s blog will provide planning tips, updates on bridal trends and will feature the weddings of local brides.
“So many brides turn to the web for wedding ideas and information,” said Engaged Alaska co-owner, Jessica Nicely. “We thought it would be great to provide a forum at a local level so brides can share their experiences.” After using an online forum to plan her own destination wedding, Nicely opened up Engaged Reno in Reno, Nevada in March of 2014. Nicely and her business partner Janel Guthrie, who grew up in Alaska, are launching Engaged Alaska as they see how this idea has benefited so many local brides and businesses already. They plan to open other forums in Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and more.
“Engaged Alaska’s goal,” said Guthrie, “is to provide Alaska brides-to-be with one destination for all their planning needs, opportunities to network with other couples and support local businesses”.
