Northrim Bank Hosts Economic Luncheon
Northrim Bank will host an Economic Luncheon in Fairbanks on April 9. The annual luncheon is held in Anchorage and Fairbanks, and this year Juneau will be added as a result of the acquisition of Alaska Pacific Bank. Speakers include Northrim Bank President and CEO Joe Beedle, Northrim Bank Economist Mark Edwards, and guest speaker Dr. Bill Conerly, business strategy consultant, online contributor to Forbes and author of Businomics.
Guests at the luncheon will be given an update on Alaska’s economy and a special presentation on the economic issues affecting Alaska and the nation. A couple items discussed will be the high cost of energy throughout Interior Alaska and the real need for a gasline, and the impact of government spending curtailments and possibly offsetting geopolitical impacts on military bases in the area to include missile defense and F-35 potential deployment.
Each year, Northrim Bank engages local business and community members to take a stand on the economic issues facing Alaska. As a resource rich state, Alaska must remain competitive with other US states, and foreign interests.
As part of the luncheon, Northrim will also be presenting donations to the University of Alaska. Northrim invests in the community and is proud to support organizations that are helping build a strong community for the future. Northrim is a strong advocate for higher education throughout Alaska and supports each of the major hubs of the University. In Fairbanks the UAF School of Management will receive $50,000 for their work to provide high-quality business education in Alaska.
