At-Sea Processors Job Fair April 24 in Anchorage
JUNEAU, Alaska—The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development will host the annual At-Sea Processors Association Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Midtown Job Center in Anchorage, 3301 Eagle Street, Room 104.
Applicants must attend a seafood orientation and pre-register before April 24. The department holds seafood orientation Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Midtown Job Center.
Arctic Storm, Trident Seafoods and Coastal Villages Regional Fund will be on hand to conduct in-person interviews.
Applicants will have the opportunity to interview in-person for two-to three-month jobs on catcher-processor vessels.
Successful applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
At-sea processors harvest, process, freeze and store seafood products on board, including fillets, surimi, roe and fishmeal. Seafood processing work is physically demanding and averages 16 hours per day. Companies generally provide room, board and transportation upon successful completion of contract.
