Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission to meet April 24-25 in Anchorage
(Anchorage, AK) — The Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission will hold a two-day meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, April 24–25, in the Atwood Building at 550 West 7th Avenue, Anchorage. The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Room 1270 and at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Kuparuk Room on the 11th floor.
Agenda items include discussion of FEMA’s HAZUS seismic risk assessment study for the Kodiak Island Borough; briefings about a proposed Alaska Earthquake Alliance program; earthquake early warning systems; and ongoing activities in the Commission’s standing committees (Schools, Insurance, Earthquake Hazards Identification, Earthquake Scenarios, Education & Outreach, and Response & Recovery).
Any person or group wishing to address the members of the commission on matters relating to mitigating seismic risks in Alaska is welcome to participate. A copy of the draft meeting agenda is available at the ASHSC website at www.seismic.alaska.gov.
