UIC Construction Services formalizes Kautaq Construction Services LLC
UIC Construction Services (UICCS) is proud to announce the formalization of a new subsidiary, Kautaq Construction Services, LLC. Kautaq is led by General Manager Thomas Antonovich, who took the lead of the company in early March. Antonovich is a longtime Alaskan, having raised his family during his 25 years in the state.
He has more than 30 years of construction industry experience and recently returned to the Alaska after spending a successful two years working with a New Mexico-based construction company. During his time with that company, he was responsible for growing and transitioning the business from an 8(a) small business to a company capable of successfully pursuing full-and-open (non small-business) contracts on the open market.
Antonovich will rely on his previous experiences to grow Kautaq by initially formalizing the company’s 8(a) status, which will allow it to compete for set-aside government contracts. Once that status is in place, Antonovich will pursue and develop a strong backlog of 8(a) set-aside projects.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to grow and develop Kautaq into a highly regarded construction contractor, and I’m confident that we’ll quickly become a well-established player in the 8(a) construction market,” Antonovich said.
UICCS also holds three other subsidiaries: UIC Construction, LLC; Rockford Corporation; and SIKU Construction, LLC. UICCS is a holding company of the Ukpeavik Inupiat Corporation of the Native village of Barrow, Alaska.
