Tax Day Highlights America’s “Crazy” Tax Code

Alaskan Impact: Not only is today Tax Day, it is also Tax Freedom Day, meaning the average American works until today to earn enough to cover their yearly tax bill. (Without state taxes, Alaskans work until April 5th to hit this point.)  While different policies have come to the Senate floor pushing a piecemeal approach to taxes, today the Joint Economic Committee discussed how comprehensive tax reform is needed – a point Senator Murkowski made to Alaskans during her Economic Town Halls last fall.
