Sen. Giessel Applauds Passage of SB 175 Allowing Naturopathic Practices
(Juneau) Sen. Cathy Giessel, R-Anchorage, today applauded passage by the Senate of SB 175, a bill that defines naturopathic practice in state law.
The bill makes it clear in state law that naturopaths may give, prescribe or recommend herbal or homeopathic remedies, dietetic remedies, and hydrotherapy, so long as the remedies are not in the form of a controlled substance.
Sen. Giessel, an advanced nurse practitioner, is a co-sponsor of SB 175.
“Healthcare choice is fundamental,” Sen. Giessel said, “and this bill ensures that people who choose to receive the services of a naturopath will be able to do so.”
Senate Bill 175 now goes to the House of Representatives for its consideration.
