Rep. Young Named as Highway Bill Conferee

Published:

WASHINGTON, D.C. After being appointed today by the Speaker of the House to serve as a Conferee for the House-Senate Conference of the next Highway Bill, Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement:

“As the author of the last long-term highway bill, I am both pleased and honored to be named to the Conference Committee today. We are tasked with crafting a bill that is acceptable to both the Senate and House and I know firsthand how tough these negotiations can be. The Senate-passed Highway bill is a disaster for Alaska and I have my work cut out for me, but I look forward to the challenge of ensuring that crucial Alaska programs such as the Alaska Railroad, Alaska Marine Highway and the Indian Reservation Road program remain fully funded.”
