New Alaskan Company Pledges to Offset 36 Tons of CO2
Green Kid Crafts is a new, earth-friendly Alaskan company that offers natural, sustainable, and responsible choices for arts and crafts projects. This home-grown company shines in two ways. Committed to using recycled, natural, and eco-friendly materials, they are the only earth-friendly, mail-order craft company in the nation. They are also unique in that they are a carbon neutral business, choosing to offset 100% of the carbon dioxide generated by their business and help fund the development of renewable energy projects across the United States. In 2011, they offset 36 Tons of carbon dioxide and in 2012 they pledged to do the same. What does this mean in every day terms? Offsetting 36 tons of carbon dioxide is the equivalent of saving over 3,500 gallons of gasoline or keeping 7 cars off the road for one year.
“As the Climate Change Coordinator with the Alaska Center for the Environment, I know only too well how important it is to offset carbon emissions," says Penny Bauder, Owner of Green Kid Crafts. "I believe that every person, every business, has the power to make a difference, which is why Green Kid Crafts chose to become carbon neutral. People can order from us secure that they are supporting Alaska's natural resources by encouraging the education of the state's young children on sustainable practices. ”
Kids can learn early on about protecting the earth with Green Kid Crafts craft kit subscriptions, available in 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions. These products are an inexpensive tool for parents and teachers to use to educate children about recycling, reducing waste, and protecting the environment. Suitable for preschool and early elementary kids, three of their craft kits are mailed to kids across the nation once a month. You can check out Green Kid Crafts at www.greenkidcrafts.com.
