Happy Birthday Blues Central

This is the time of year, Blues Central at the Chef’s Inn celebrates its birthday, and a big one it is this year, 48 years young ! It was 1964 when the Chef’s Inn opened it’s doors at 825 W. Northern Lights Blvd.. Famous for it’s piano bar and cook your own steaks, it was the hot spot for all of Anchorage, albeit a little out of town in those days. About fifteen years ago, the name Blues Central was added, in that live music and especially Blues was on stage most every night.

Blues Central at the Chef’s Inn remains an Anchorage hot spot known for live music and especially for those famous French Dips and continuing on with the popular prime rib country style chicken steak at lunch time.

Owner Frank Dahl says he is always surprised and pleased to hear when folks tell him that they met their spouse there or came with their parents as children. Although looking to retire once he finds a qualified buyer, he still can be seen each day during lunch and most weekend nights watching over the lively crowd. He says, “no, you can’t dance on the piano bar anymore or cook your own steaks, but, Blues Central at the Chef’s Inn is still an Anchorage hot spot.
