Ellie Bloechl named Alaska's Children's Miracle Network Champion for 2012
Ellie to be recognized on Saturday at Dena'ina Center during KidsDay
ANCHORAGE, AK - Six-year-old Ellie Bloechl has been chosen as the 2012 Alaska Champion in the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champions program. Ellie will be introduced as Champion during the opening ceremonies of KidsDay, Saturday, April 21, at the Dena'ina Center.
At age 4, Ellie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a form of cancer. This spunky girl who loved to play in the dirt dressed in her tutu began receiving care at The Children's Hospital at Providence. Kidney dialysis and physical therapy are now behind Ellie, but her chemotherapy treatments continue. Ellie has proven she's a fighter and star. She expresses her concern for other sick children in the hospital, and her bright personality is hard to resist.
Every year, the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champions program identifies a child with a remarkable medical story from each state. These Champions serve as ambassadors for the 17 million children treated at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals annually. The Champions and their families will travel to Orlando, Fla., and Washington, D.C., in September to highlight the vital work taking place at children's hospitals.
