CPI Up. Average Hourly Earnings Down in March
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.3 percent in March after rising 0.4 percent in February. The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent in March after increasing 0.1 percent in February.
Real average hourly earnings fell 0.1 percent in March, seasonally adjusted. A 0.2 percent increase in average hourly earnings was more than offset by a 0.3 percent increase in the CPI-U. Real average weekly earnings fell 0.4 percent over the month.
