Alaskans for justice public rally invite - April 4, 2012
Ted Stevens was Alaska’s champion for many, many years. There is an effort underway to let Alaskans know just how badly his trial was handled and shed light on the misconduct of the prosecutors. As Sen. Lisa Murkowski recently said, “It is too late to do justice to Senator Stevens or the people of Alaska, but we must do justice to the Constitution. “ If this travesty can happen to a powerful senator, then it can happen to any one of us.
Getting involved. Occasionally you get a chance to participate in something that has personal meaning and can effect legislation that directly impacts all of us. Sen. Murkowski along with Senators Mark Begich, Sen. Dan Inouye (D-HI), Daniel Akaka (D-HI) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) are working on legislation that ensures this will not happen again. These leaders are working to hold the Dept of Justice accountable for their misconduct. Alaskans can join this effort by signing an open letter (http://alaskansforjustice.com/open-letter/) demanding accountability of the Justice Department. You can also follow Alaskans For Justice on Facebook. (https://www.facebook.com/AlaskansForJustice).
Next Wednesday, there is a public rally at the PenAir Hangar in Anchorage on April 4th, at 5 PM. Invite attached. (pdf) This event features Mayor Dan Sullivan, Sen. Murkowski, Congressman Don Young and other Alaskans. Please join us. It’s a family event for all Alaskans. Feel free to share this invitation with your distribution list and call me if you have any questions.
Regards to all,
Laurie Fagnani, President
