Alaska Business Monthly Magazine Wins Alaska Press Club Awards
Alaska Business Monthly magazine swept the Alaska Press Club’s Best Magazine Feature category, garnering first, second and third place. The magazine also was awarded third place for Best Magazine Design in the organization’s 2012 annual contest for work published in 2011.
“We thank the Alaska Press Club for recognizing the talent and teamwork helping make Alaska Business Monthly the best business magazine in Alaska and the West Coast,” said President and General Manager Jim Martin.
Freelance writer Susan Sommer took first place in Best Magazine Feature for the article “Alaska Food Challenge: Eating local for a year,” which appeared in the September 2011 issue. Freelance writer Julie Stricker took second place for the article “Tundra Times, Howard Rock and ANCSA,” which appeared in the January 2011 print edition. Freelance writer Tracy Kalytiak took third place for the article “Wind Farms: Part of the rural energy solution,” which appeared in the July 2011 print edition. Alaska Business Monthly was awarded third in Best Magazine Design for its entries for the March 2011, October 2011, November 2011 print editions designed by Art Director Candy Johnson.
